There are no friends in business. I feel for you. What does the law say about this? What is in your contract with this guy, is it all stacked in his favour? Read it very carefully, there may be something in there that will help you. Who drew up the contract?

Excellent. I hope you defeat him too!! What a dafty stealing your idea. I agree that of the most people are good. I do think though that some people are ruthless sociopaths who do not care and would sell their granny for a quick buck. Your idea is brilliant and I think will be used by both us plumbers and DIY alike.
Do you have any dated early designs or anything like that? I went to college when I first left school and did an HND in communications!!?? But anyway, I was told that apparently if you send your idea to yourself recorded delivery and don't open it that is enough to prove it is your idea and stands up in a court of law? Just a brief comment 24 years ago. May not help might now as it has passed but just thinking on the modern way of emails that you can not edit once sent type thing, they are dated and times etc. Might also be total rubbish. I wish you all the best and would be happy to give something to a go fund me type thing, court is expensive.

That concept is still valid Duncan It's called contemporaneous notes and is indeed legal as historic evidence. Thank you for your confidence 😉

It’s wrong that this can happen, it may be legal what he has done but that is not the spirit in which the law was written.
Those who exploit this for their own gains are despicable, the same as tax avoidance and those that go bankrupt and start again with new name multiple times - it sounds childish but it’s just not fair.
I hope you and your colleagues get out the other side of this ok.
