The problem with Plumbing is: There are to many things to remember. I think most Plumbers once informed perhaps forget a lot of what they know in detail and work on a sort of Plumbers intuition. Then if their intution says somethings wrong they go away and check it out.

Hi, Different people have differing learning styles. It becomes apparent after reading posts over a period of time, the lack of plumbing physics shown by some. Makes me wonder how they operate? Any body wishing to become a plumber wants to solder pipes, bend pipe etc. These skills were sufficient in days gone by, where a structure existed. Formen (plumbing technician) would instruct the plumber on the job requirements and check on completion. With the self employed plumber no validation of the works takes place. And a far greater knowledge of hydrostatics / hydrolics to name just two of many need to be understood. This understanding make the job so much easier. And gives the client confidence in the plumber if able to explain why prior to ripping the system to bits and disappearing when things get tough.

The interesting/problem with plumbing is there is so much to remember, so many ways to achieve the same goal. You can look at an installation and spend an age trying to work out what does what. Then you may never come across that instal again.

You may have all the knowledge and understanding for the modern home but then come across a house that hasn't had anything changed since 1940, then your knackered.........

I've found this job (so far) interesting, challenging and sometimes a complete nightmare. I agree totally with the last 2 posts.
