Fish and chips in real newspaper (there was a scare in the 90s about the carbon black in newsprint being potentially carcinogenic so its not used now).

Getting £1 as a kid for fish, chips and mushy peas (it's almost £5 here now!)

Jubliee Stout (nana's favourite tipple)

"Nutty" bar (a toffee wafer bar with peanuts stuck to it, in transparent brown cellophane wrapper) which resembled a turd, probably accounting for its decline in popularity.

Mars / Twix / Bounty / Marathon (old name for Snickers) etc in wax paper wrappers (changed to film in the mid 1980s

Beech Nut chewing gum

Altoids mints

People saying "hello" on the streets. (Tyne & Wear and Northumberland are the only places I have been to recenty where people are still friendly and will still say "morning" to people they pass who they don't know).

AM or MW radio

Laundry blue (came in a little block wrapped in muslin and disappeared about 10 years ago, probably due to the fact nobody has net curtains anymore)

Audio cassettes

Video cassettes (grandad was one of the unfortunate ones who opted for V2000 which was the shortest lived format (double sided cassetted you flipped over for the "B" side

Vinyl records

Making a "Trunk call" - (phoning the operator on "100" to make a long distance or international phone call), telephone switchboards

Floppy disks for computers

Rawl Drills (however did we manage before SDS?)

Asbestos products (new)

White guttering and soil pipe systems

Typewiters and word processing machines

The Rolodex and card files (an early card inedexing system rendered obsolete by computers)

Film cameras and polaroid cameras

Record shops

Junk shops (since ebay)

I have a party 7 opener somewhere. 🙂

Shoot the footy mag

Oh wow, remember that as a kid.

Another thing you don't see is the local fields heaving with parents cheering their kids on. Every street had its own footy team when I was a kid.

I feel old all of a sudden, only 36. 🙁

Thankfully my boy is football mad, forever got a ball at his feet, and youngest is looking same way too. Most parents are happy for kids to sit on computers all day as means they don't have to get off their own fat arses or entertain them

If I was on telly I would squash it. I've snapped a worktop or two kneeling on it too close to the sink cut out .

Caramac.

Except I saw some yesterday. Bought it. Ate it. MMmmmmmmm... <drools like Homer>
Wanted to say Caramac the other day but couldn't think of the name. Where did you buy this latest one from?

Also, another thing I thought I wouldn't see again was one of Britain's former most wanted. He got out early and was hugging me in the pub earlier, why he thinks I was glad to see him is beyond me. Can't stand him.
