After seeing them on here, I made myself a dosing vessel from a pump up garden sprayer. I can report that you can successfully fill an empty solar system (the hot water type, not the one with planets and stars) with it and pressurise it to over 2 bar.

Worked beautifully, lots of air in the system, but left running for half an hour with the auto air vent open it was running silently and air less.

I did have a boo-boo though. I removed the hose from the pumping station which was full of fluid still, so I squeezed the trigger to release it into the bottle. I forgot it still had just under 2.5 bar of pressure in it and got it in my hair and my right eye! Bloody stung that did!!

Cost me less than £25 to make and it costs me £70 to hire a solar filling machine, not including the fuel and time spent collecting it!

I've only done two installs since working for myself and that was for a Father and Son of a quite wealthy family.

Makes me wonder if there is any point in getting into renewables in this green and pleasant land!

I don't advertise at all, could probably get more work if I did and I did the course whilst working for someone.

But I wouldn't invest in renewables unless I had plans to market it. I'm qualified for ground source heat pumps too, I have never been anywhere near one outside of the training centre!

Sad isnt it, i want to get into renewables for the future of my business but i cant see any money in it at the moment
