Hi guys diy'er fairly confident in basic plumbing, thanks in advance for help:
Our kitchen is inadequately heated and i would like to add 2 electric element heated radiators or possibly towel radiators. I appreciate this is not the most efficient heating method but the off-the-shelf oil-filled ones are not attractive. I see Screwfix etc sell these elements:

Towel Radiator Heating Element IP55 2730BTU 800W - NoLinkingToThis, Where the Trade Buys

I have a few questions:
1) Can they be used with traditonal rads rather than towel rads?
2) Am I correct in thinking the radiator is simply filled with water, leaving a 50mm expansion gap?
3) is it essential to connect via a 13A FCU, why can they not simply be plugged in?

I don't see why you can't use them with any rad provided the element will fit.

Your system should have means of expansion - usually an expansion vessel (on a combi or unvented system) or a F&E tank. Radiators normally filled.

Has to be wired in (something to do with Part P I think) and it is classed as a fixed installation.

Make sure there is access for getting elements in and out of the rad once fitted.

To clarify, these will be stand alone, not connected to CH system

Does anyone have a view on this. Most importantly, I need to know what the radiator should be filled with, if not water.
many thanks...................

why not just buy a oilfilled stand alone rad ?im sure dimplex used to make them Buy Oil filled radiators at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Heaters and radiators. - (14 products)

They are too bulky, I need something slimline

reason towel rails are hard wired is your not allowed plug sockets in bathrooms where they are most commonly fitted

So, what would the difference be in a kitchen using a fused plug in a socket or an fcu?

Thanks for response, but can anyone clarify what they should/could be filled with? Thanks.
