Hello all!

I'm after some advice/help please re: piping/tubing connections. I'll try and explain my situation as best as I can. Please let me know if anything I say is unclear. (please see attached sketch).

I have a probe which sits in a water flow loop. The water flow pipe is what I am trying to specify and make (With your expert help!) The probe is attached to 1/4'' OD steel tubing and goes off to another system (which is irrelevant). The flow through pipe must have an ID which is able to incorporate the probe with a little extra space for water to pass around the sides.

I was thinking this might need something like a reducing tee piece which can create a water tight seal on one branch which connects to the 1/4'' OD steel tubing and the other branch and trunk can be the same size as long as the other branch has ID big enough to accommodate the size of the probe disc.

Any ideas/advice of parts and different pie sizes would be much appreciated! (and where I can buy from).

cheeers

3/4 tee with bushes to suit and a wet pocket for probe.

Thanks very much for reply. I'm a complete novice and am unable to find things like 'wet pocket'. What is proper name for this please?

Any links to website shops would be much appreciated 🙂

thanks again

What is the probe for and what size are the treads on the probe if it's a PH or similar type probe?

Yes, how did you guess that? Its a PH probe for my fish tank at home! The other end connects to the probe meter. The connection to the probe meter is made with 1/4'' OD steel tubing using a 'swagelok' connection nut.

Im still really stuck on this.

I've been in 4 different Plumbing supply stores today:
No one has ever heard of a 'wet pocket' and when I explained the problem no one has been able to offer a solution.

Anyone have any advice/ideas please?

thanks

Forget the wet pocket / thermo well. They are used for temperature sensors and are used so that the sensor can be replaced without draining down system. If you have a PH sensor, that needs to be in direct contact with the fluid

Oh it's a fish tank . Use class E pipework. Not iron or copper. If it's to measure ph you really should have a container and not a flow steam. From memory we used to use a 50mm block of plastic 200mm long with 3/4 trappings top and bottom. Allows as steady ph . Ph is measured by conductivity of H+ ions in water so in a flow stream you will get really messed up results and pickled fish.
