Gas Engineer
went to do landlord gas safety check, customer said they could smell gas from certain area of house. turned gas off proceeded with tightness test took screw out of meter no gas which no concern as thought by turning gas off lost most the gas from wherever leak was. anyway connected manometer and opened ecv slowest movement on manometer even fully open i would expect to get good movement then quickly drop off but it was going up 1 mbar per 30 secs, turned off ecv once it did reach 10 mbar but kept rising which meant ecv letting by. capped gas and phoned northern gas networks but couldnt stay at job. Got call from customer about 1 hour later to say meter was fine leak was on oulet side of meter. i expected leak to be on outlet side but i was more concerned with meter i was thinking regulator faulty and ecv passing. what do you guys think?

If the pressure change is very sluggish when u open ecv the gas in meter is slow to leave via test nipple , take off meter look down outlet where nipple joins it will be covered in grease or dirt. If u think ecv is letting by u should give it a squirt of ldf to see!

Nearly got caught with a bloody needle the other week. Working a basement plant room , drain cocks were at the door and the drain at the bottom of the stairs was choked with papers etc. Was about to put my hand down and scoop the trap but got a stick and gave it a rattle around and a syringe came floating up.
Junkie bstds.
