Unvented hot water help

Plumber changed exp vessel on unvented cyl few months back customer now saying they have rusty water from taps any ideas guys ?

what colour of expansion vessel was used? red or white?

It's red I think the original was white ? Looks like you standard heating one has been used on the hot water side

Also it is on a solar system as well as central heating dunno if this makes any difference

I would be telling the customer to get the original engineer out there to replace FOC

it probably lasted a few weeks without rusting because the x100 took a while to drink 🙂

The colour, I was told by an agent that supplies expansion vessels, is irrelevant.
It is the code of the vessel they go by & what it's purpose is.
I have seen the vessels suitable for potable water to be normally white but also blue in colour & one I got was red (identical to heating vessel).
All that matters is that they have a 'balloon' membrane that fills with the potable water so that the water doesn't come in contact with the steel vessel. Or that the vessel body is stainless steel.
Most potable vessels are easy spotted as they have a large stainless steel flange on the water side.

None of the merchants I go to stock a 12litre white vessel. Pain in the arse. Why don't they stock em
They reckon not many get ordered which ive always found hard to believe considering most unvented cylinders have one

The exp vessels are completely diffrent. Heating the air is in the bag and water in contact with steel. On DHW the waters in the bag and air in contact with steel , thus no David Dickinson bathwater from the hot tap.
