Hi I run a small refurbishment company, We generally do domestic stuff but have recently renovated some offices where there has been an issue with 'constant running water'. Thames Water said it must be a leak, but I narrowed it down to the urinal, which is run directly off the mains, and when the office is dead in the night gets the pressure diverted to it and it flushes every ten minutes! However, during the day when pressure is diverted to filling the main tanks/kitchen etc, the fill to the urinal cistern stops (being the highest point in building).

It is single urinal, not used that much so I think a push button would be way to go? At least this means that it is not flushing all night!

Does anyone know about conversion kits from automatic to push button. Given water pressure issue be idea to keep tank but add ball valve and then have push button on flush pipe?

Also any info/thoughts on waterless urinals? As I know they sound great for water saving but the cartridges are expensive.

Thanks in advance
Mark

depending on the way the plumbing is done there are several ways to fix this, you can get an infra red sensor which will flush after someone enters, so wont flush at night, or you could attach a "surestop" to the supply which is connected to a switch with 2m of hose the size of 2.5mm twin & earth cable, but someone would need to turn it off every night
