I actually used the bread trick for the first time today on a job in a top floor flat. I drained down the heating system to install new TRV's and replace some butchered pipe, more on that later!! This old heating system just would not completely empty. I tried syphoning it out, using the end of a spray bottle, blowing it etc. so I left it while I had my lunch. A subway and remembered the old break trick. Got back in there and stuffed some down the pipes minus the steak and cheese. Soldered it up and perfect. I was literally about to use a compression coupling. I was impressed! Doesn't happen often.

or do what i do.....

32mm pushfit waste coupler over nozzle..15mm speedfit into that....300mm jg pipe into that then tape joints.
put 15mm onto pipe and suuuuuck baby!!.

That's what I like about this forum. I've been doing this stuff for 14 years and still learning new tricks. I'm always an open book as my dad always said to me once you think you've mastered it, you know nothing.

Call me daft but what happens to the bread afterwards?? I realise some of it will dissolve but surely not all ??? I really wanna try this

went to a set of basin taps years ago that had stopped running, took the insert out and the washer had dropped off - got that out and the pipe was furred up with hardened bread that had caught on the tap union and solidified.

You sure it was bread
Water and bread just dissolve very quickly

I've done it a right few times

Try this then. Get a small piece of bread and keep it on your tongue without chewing. It will disolve into nothing in 5 mins. Just enough time to solder
