Had a vaillant ecotech 28 pro fitted a while back and now want to wire in an old acl lp711 timer (fully working, a mate passed it onto me recently). Thought it would be an easy job but wiring diagram for the boiler leaves a bit to be desired. Any advice?

The boiler has L, N, E from a fused spur and the a bridge between contacts 3&4. The timer has 6 contacts -L, N and then numbered 1 thru 4. I have a separate 3a fused spur for the time switch.

Thanks

would need to see wiring diagram and contact diagram on back of switch can you post a photo of these but basically the normally open contacts on sw need to be wired in series (in line) with control circuit i am not familiar with that particular boiler is the on off selector incorperated in the pcb also what voltage and current rating is the timer designed to switch

Thanks for the reply. Due to the attachment limits I can't seem to attach photos or wiring diagrams. Below is the best i have come up with. Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,

Timeswitch wiring diagram (ACL LP711)

Full instructions for a modern LP711 can be found here:

The wiring diagram on the back of my timer (an old LP711) differs from this as follows:

  • No dotted line between the clock and the switch
  • No dotted line between contacts L and 1 (although I believe I still need to provide power to contact 1).

Boiler Wiring Diagram (Vaillant Ecotec 28 Pro):

Full installation manual available here: http://www.vaillant.co.uk/stepone2/data/downloads/d7/42/00/ecoTEC_installation_and_servicing.pdf

Pg 30 for wiring.

Link 1 and 3 on LifeStyle clock to 3 and 4 on boiler terminal block removing link.Wire L/N from spare or link back from boiler to Time Control ,maybe with 4 cord cable if you have any

Thanks for this. Fine on 1st part. On second "Wire L/N from spare or link back from boiler..." can you clarify?

Also could I not just link L and 1 in the time switch and then run a single cable from 3 in the timer switch to 4 in the boiler? i.e. 3 (in the boiler) is only needed if you don't supply power to terminal 1 in the timer?

Thanks.
