steve, i find myself everyday walkin into my local and spendin 40-50 odd quid a day, and it just feels like odds and ends im taking fittings wise ... and this with good terms also..

i'm not saying they're definitely bad quality otherwise sf wouldn't sell them just perhaps not top quality is all

Look here for fittings.
Pipe Fittings - End Feed/Capillary. Delivery is next day or so.
If you can afford to buy bigger amounts they are cheaper. You will always use them.
The worst thing to do is buy them from a merchants as you need them. You will get seriously ripped off. PTS last week, 2 x 22x22x15 tees, £4.50 each plus the vat for the imported rubbish. When i got the invoice in i phoned them up and told him he could stick the invoice as i wasn't paying it. Got a credit in the next day reduced to £2.30 which is still dear.
10 years or so ago i bought 30000 fittings for £1000 in a deal from a place that was closing down. For a while i would look at them and think i'll be dead and these will still be here. I have used nearly all of them. Have about a thousand 22mm and 15mm unions left and a few hundred 22mm and 15mm tees. All the others are long gone.

I like the way at BES you'le scroll down the list of prices for a perticular fitting and at the bottom there is a really obscure size for really silly money like £80 or something.
Another example is an air release valve on a 15mm comp elbow, again very very expensive. Who would even buy these when you could use a solder tee and normal solder air vent.

I always ring my mates who are still full time with companies, they are great for copper and fittings, solder, flux, gas etc.
Also get to know your local tat yard, these always have full time plumbers coming in and tatting van fulls of copper and fittings etc.
