Right basically my Misses is moving into a new place soon and the heating/gas work has been thrown in.
Iam Gas Safe registered myself and was just wondering what you guys would class these faults as.
Idealy I would like to AR these points, and perhaps coerce the council into installing a new combi. (haha ill b lucky hehe)

>A 15mm gas pipe has been run directly under the fire frount of a baxi - I think AR
>Vent for the boiler Has had a raditator installed over it, It is still be functional but is it legal? - NCS possibly AR I Think
>There is a liner However There is an old fireplace in a room upstair Using the same chimney It has been bricked up at somepoint.. But it has a vent installed evidently to ventilate the chimney. Now I was under the impression that the liner should be seal top and bottom.. Not sure about this one.

Thanks guys

I suppose it depends how far away the pipe is from the fire would be my first concern
If the ventilation is ok it would be ntcs but I maybe wrong
The flue defo sounds like a no no to me , sorry cannot be of more help usually just do repairs

A covered vent is AR, full stop. The gas pipe issue is only a maintenance issue I would say, Ie getting the burner box/cover out. Is the chimney with vent upstairs the same chimney as bbu is using? If so then I'd say ID I'd say

is there POC's escaping into the upstairs room NOW, if so then ID
COULD POC's escape into the upstairs room sometime in the future IF the liner gets corroded and leaks if so AR
if the gas pipe is restricting access to remove for fire parts or is within 25mm of an electrical cable or 150mm of an electrical switch/joint then it is NCS or is likely to be damaged by really poor positioning maybe AR
a vent behind a rad isnt AR as you can drop the rad to check it, ( a pain to do but cant be AR, as a vent behind a curtain needs to be inspected as well) and dont ask which i would rather do as its obvious, but as someone else has said they wont get blocked by the tenant, there were loads of these done in CES and Tamz neck of the woods years ago

vents for bbu's should be behind a rad to stop the occupant blocking it up
Why would a copper pipe running under a gas fire be dangerous
I douubt the two flues are connected

the vent behind the rad is not ID,AR or NCS there is nothing wrong with it being behind a rad, however if it has a cover it can block up with dirt but as most rads are at low level its not to hard to remove the outer cover and clean out

And me, might aswell stuff an asda bag down the vent core.I've never came accross it b4 and would AR in a heartbeat it I did
The air will stll enter the room and replace the air used by the burner

just because you havent seen it cant make it AR, ok its a PITA but its not AR, drop the rad check the free air, volume and that the holes are 5-10mm then put the rad back on, why is it AR

Surely by putting a rad in front you are resticting the air being drawn in.
PlUs it could be purposely blocked. If I can't check it and confirm it clear and correct size then it's AR. Draining+removing rad can be very time consuming

being difficult to check does not make it ar,whats so difficult about removing the outer cover?? you need to check for a duct anyway

Apologies, my editing page is very funky for some reason, it seems to repost and edit rather than just edit

It was common practice to fit vents behind rads for BBUs. This ensured that
a) the draught was baffled
b) incoming air was pre heated to some extent
c) it was better cosmetically
d)the customer couldnt bugger about with it.

So no problems there.
