Changed a faulty gas valve on a maxin 24e, set up the burner pressures as per MI's with digital monometer. After this i stuck my fga in test point. I havent done my cpa1 yet but used it out of interetest and to try it out. When it started picking up readings the co level went it the thousands. I put it off and checked everything i'd done. Then i checked the boiler, flue etc. The boiler looked like it hasnt been serviced for a while, so i cleaned the burner and heat exchanger. After that i tried it again and the co level was down to 252 ppm and the ratio was 0.032%. in reading new boiler MI's this is a bit off. Is this ok or does the boiler require further cleaning??

Ratio still far too high. 0.008 after cleaning is what aiming for.
You sure BP and gas rate are all ok?

tbh you should be reading the mi,s as a guide most se combi boiler hit 0.0003-0.0004 when clean, really suggest you do a fga course (cpa 1) and buy corgis book on general fga use pointless having one if you cant use it

i should have said 0.0008 to most boilers, and forgot to add most HE boilers under 0.0004,in addition to my previous post but most modern se combis will be 0.0003-0.0004

Doing cpa next month, just trying out my new kit. All gas pressures were correct, burner pressures and inlet/working. Just looking for some info and to learn a bit before doing the course. Didnt spend too long cleaning the boiler but as it made a difference to readings, im thinking it must be needing a good service?

Its good to get some practice in,you can see by your actions what a difference a slight clean and adjustment can make and a prober service will probably bring unit in line
But shows you, what a great advance it is to start getting everyone to start to use analysers, if you did not get your analyser out,you may well have thought boiler operating all Ok and efficiently,as so many have in the past

imho

Very true puddle, i would of took it that the appliance was ok!! And its good the analyser can show you how good the service has been and the difference it has made. looking forward to my cpa even more now!

Really dirty heat exchangers on Vokera's often need removing a washing the fins, easy job , but makesure you've got a couple of new washers to reconnect the H Exch [ old washers go very hard ]
