Hi All,
I had a few problems with my heating since I drained down and fitted an additional radiator. Pipes were already there for the rad. (previous owners had removed it to install a kitchen cabinet). The system is a conventional fully pumped open vented system.
Since it has been refilled I have had problems with the system making gurgling / trickling noises and pumping over, but not all the time only when the pump had just been switched off.
I had someone round to service the boiler and they suggested converting the system to a combined vent a feed (one 22mm pipe from the F&E tank).
I have done this and whilst I was there I cut out and replaced the 'H' section in case there was a blockage, they were clear anyway.
So now I have one pipe from the tank in the loft, the trickling noise has almost dissapeared, its taken about a week to remove all the air from the system, but now sounds much better.
However, now I get warm water in the F&E tank. Is this normal?
Also when the system is running the 22mm combined vent and feed gets warm up near the ceiling before it goes in to the tank. When the pump turns off the quickly turns to hot as hot water rises up the pipe to the tank. The level in the tank rises by a few mm when this happens too.
Does this sound like a problem or normal operation?
Many thanks in advance.
