Hi chaps. Need a bit of advice on this. Taken out an old vokera system boiler and fitting a wb system boiler. The wb says in the manual that the switching part needs a neutral. So this will mean 6 wires from the wiring centre and into the boiler. I only have 5 from the old system. Is it possible to just link the neutral in the boiler incoming (which is wired into the wiring centre) into the neutral for external controls on the boiler? Below is a picture Screenshot_2014-11-03-20-29-12.jpg

Also, why does it need a neutral?

Cheers chaps

I done a system classic last week i had to wire the splan and ran a 3core and earth so had plenty cores but if the main junction box is close to boiler id run another cable and just use a single core because that green terminal blocks inside the boiler arent really designed for 2 cables , i fitted a combi yesterday and the customer had bought the honeywell evo home with it, and i just left the nuetral block empty as the evo only had the 2 switch wires, its up to you if u wana put link in mutley,

Junction box isn't close. A mission. But are you saying I don't need the neutral?

Depends on thermostat mutley. Just put link in it will suffice as junction box is distance away.

It depends how you wire it Lee. The LS and NS and live and neutral feeds to the wiring centre if the main fused spur wires direct to the boiler. If the fused spur takes the permanents to the wiring centre first then they aren't needed. All you need is Permanent L N E, switch live (LR) and pump live for the pump overrun to work. If that makes sense? If you get really stuck feel free to give me a call.

if the power comes in to the wiring center you only need one LNE and a switch live remember the boiler should have an isolation switch use a three way one but dont switch the earth

if its easier to wire the stat or reciever near the boiler you can use the live and neutral out terminals LS and LN FOR power and break into the switch live across the stat terminals

If the controls are external then just use LS and LR and simply link neutral. However in certain circumstances u don't need it

Just need a P/L, N & E then your switched live (LR) from your zone valves and that's it.

So all wired up working correctly. Then all of a sudden I hear this knocking noise like a dodgy trv. So turn hot water and heating stats up and down and when these open and close it is making the same noise as a single trv on the return. Never had this before. Both valves are on the flow. What's the crack

Never assume!!! I just assumed that the flow on the vokera was on the left. It's on the right and so I piped it up the wrong way around

always look where the pump is connected to old vokera had pump on left

I wish I had taken off the front cover when removing it. Gutted. Right in London victoria this. Have to pay a congestion charge and half a day getting there and back. Grrr.

Are there many boilers that have the flow on the left then

Excels, lineas, alphas, simes off the top of my head

There is a bypass on worcesters so you don't necessarily need another

On system boiler? Fitted the CDI 38kw other day. It's a combi with hydro ripped out. Leads just hanging in case. Fitted a bypass anyway. Didn't read MI?
