Welcome to the new forum and web address. 🙂

We will be staying on this domain name now (PlumbersForums.net) instead of the old (UKPlumbersForums.co.uk). It matches our other forums (tilers & electricians) well.

Please hang in there before reporting bugs and things. I'll be working on the forum for a week or so before I'll ask you to report any bugs for me to fix.

The forum comes with some new features. But rather than listing them just have a look around.

Thanks. 🙂

I'm afraid as with yesterday, we have lost 1 days worth of threads and posts. I apologise for this, totally my fault. Though everything will carry on as normal now. We wont be losing any posts again.

I take it this means they’re lost for good?

I'm still with you 😛
Good luck on the new domain name and forums
Hopefully some of the great sources of knowledge and experience will follow on 😎

We have had the sparky forum on the new domain for a month or so now and the UK traffic is only around 75% of unregistered readers.

And we have new members that post frequently from Canada, USA, aus, NZ and many other English speaking countries.

It's awesome.

I will need to segregate the forum categories or add prefixes for country or something soon.

First thing to do is add all of our customisations etc

I can only like other posts. Is that a temporary thing? What happened to all the other options?

@Dan,I know you said give it time to report bugs and errors, wasn’t sure if you knew about this one? Been happening a lot yesterday and today, wasn’t sure if you needed/wanted to know. 😉

On the main Forums page it says:

PlumbersForums.net - Plumbing Forum for USA, UK, Canada, Australia and other English-speaking countries.

How is this going to work? Each country is different, particularly the USA, which still works in imperial type units, and the regulations vary from state to state. Wil there be a separate sub-forum for each country?

Is there going to be an area again, were members can see which businesses are supporting the forum ?

Absolutely. Just like on www.tilersforums.com and www.electriciansforums.net

After upgrading this forum, I killed tilersforums for a whole day yesterday. So just got sidetracked. I'm back on here today and will add the sponsors to the new advertising system which is way more clever than the old. More on that at another time.

There we go there's that bit done. Should all be running smooth now.

If you were getting image to large notices for attachments, those now should go through fine, we were set to just 2MB. And most phones pull off images around 4.

No doubt that it will be sorted in time and I've only viewed on the phone so far but why does the first banner you see say Tilers Forum?

With the discount code?

That's uHeat. They've given us a discount across all forums. But never edited each image. I think if you enter electriciansforums or pumbersforums the discount gets applied.

Our insurance section was developed (now defunct mind) for the plumbing forum, and that always said plumbers forums on it. But it was for all forums.

It's just one of those things lol

Yes mate. Is there where you meant?

Afraid not Dan, using phone and get emails alert then when I open email the first banner I see says tillers forum, scroll down and click on view/ reply (whatever it is) thread and I'm in plumbers forum.

Hmmm, works fine and zooms in with no blurring on my phone. Did you zoom in on my post or click the attachment to view the photo?

We DEF need an 'agree' emoji. Why? It helps people we are trying to help see that others agree with the statements made but saves everyone having to write stuff. An 'agree' emoji would be an empathetic response to users 😎

I think the idea is to boost numbers of visitors to the site, so by making it more international we get not only diyers/home owners asking for advice from overseas, but hopefully professionals who can answer those questions also.

With more 'septics' visiting the site, everyone needs to be prepared for serious levels of abuse and stalking. Many of them have no filters whatsoever. On a personal level, I know I will simply stop coming if it even begins to get silly. It's simply not worth the grief - especially when you are trying to help someone for free 🙁

I did an experiment once on LinkedIn. The yanks were 'hijacking' seemingly all threads and turning them round to: politics, religion, race & abortion. Most threads died within two days due to it. So, I posted a question asking why they did it. Genuinely I wanted to find out what was behind it. In two days it was hijacked🙄. The thread ended up running for three months with somewhere like 3000 posts most of which were generated by approx 12 people with opposing views on race, religion, abortion & politics. At the time Obama was in power so you can imagine some of the vitriol.

During this time I did some analysis. I received over 200 direct messages. Most were from non-americans who laughed up their sleeves at them and explained that this was exactly why they are so universally hated across the globe. WIthin those messages I had a handful of the kind of emails one only reads about. So disgustingly full of hate it was difficult to conceive of them coming from the people they did. We are talking preachers, CEOs of seemingly reasonable companies and highly qualified and eminent people in their fields. I got them cos occasionally I'd just lob in a question or statement to stir up the pot. One such was, "As obama is doing such a fantastic job, is it not time the Southern states of the USA recognised his value and heritage and put further victims of your racially oppressive regime into power?"

Oh the British sense of humour is naughty....
