Hi all,

Just a quick one that I hope someone can help with😕

I've rented a cottage up here for my parents to visit over Chrimbo😉anyway when they have arrived today and we have gone along to the house the UFH in the kitchen and the lounge isn't working, but the bathroom(which is on the same system) is fine...

I have checked in the plantroom and there is the usual manifold with three transparent 'valves' which seem to be calibrated for pressure -one marked kitchen, one lounge and one bathroom. The one marked bathroom seems to be filled with a pink colour and the other two are not😕

Do I need to re-pressurise the two that are not working or is something else necessary?

Don't really want to pester the lady I have rented from as she has headed down to England for Christmas....

Any help greatly appreciated....😱

On one side of the manifold will be the transparent valves and the other side of the manifold with be regulating valve that control the flow these may require opening however would think system set up

So areas could be zoned though motorised valves,as bathroom maybe on all year,so first check main controller as probably has a channel for each zone,so you may see light on programmer, thinking on,however only one zone on(bathroom),likewise each zone may have its own thermostat, this also could be programmable

So basically would say before you touch manifold settings, check main programmer on for all channels/zones,the check any zone wall thermostats on/ calling for heat
Hopefully this will sort out problem

Check all draws and cupboards to see if system instructions in file anywhere as rented property

Cheers Puddle,

Will the programmer you are referring to be just the digital timer that most heating systems have?

Any suggestions how I tell if it is zoned?
It just seemed to be generic for CH and HW....
Cheers,
Kev

If main programmer says heating /hot water probably single channel for heating however ufh will have a separate control, check around walls in lounge and kitchen for thermostat control (this may also be a programable unit)and make sure on

Aye mate there is a separate thermostat in the kitchen and I turned this up to 23degress but it would only got to 17...?
Would this have to be activated in a separate function before the heating will rise?

what make is it

Does it go to 23 then revert to 17,if so it is just showing current temp, but looks like this unit will control areas in question

is it wireless? ,maybe batteries low,not sending signal ,replace batteries or over ride at receiver,if danfoss should have model on

Is it just a thermostat or programmer as well, would think if digital, programable ,maybe just set at a low temp at the moment to keep chill off while empty,in between guests

If programable thermostat will have to turn on demand as well as raise temp

Or ,if you go to plant room you should see motorised zone valves to areas, bathroom will be open as working,if they are the type with a open manually lever on,you could just open manually for now(pull levers across and hook in slot) and they will heat up zones however remember you will have over ridden kitchen wall thermostat and will be operating on other zone or hot water thermostats

At this date you've prob got home but anyway for what it's worth.

The clear 'valves' are the topmeters to balance the system, they show the flow rate. Usually there's a little red float that shows the flow rate, it drops as the rate increases. As there is no liquid in the vial the water in the system has been probabley been allowed to drop. Before anything else just make sure the topmeter is fully open, turn so it moves up, anticlockwise. Also make sure the lockshield is open, this is the lower part of the topmeter, again turn the bottom plastic nut anticlockwise a few turns so you an see some thread. If both open fire the boiler, make sure the pump is running and there is flow in the kitchen circuit. On the other manifold, return, undo the actuator from the manifold which should open the circuit, this eliminates any stat pos. problems. If you get a flow, it's the stat not openning the actuator, if not, the system needs refilling and bleeding. Hope that helps?

Maybe you've already looked at this but has it been turned off and if so could part of the system have frozen up during the recent cold spell? If so, check for frost damage to any of the parts.
