Lol, perhaps an exclamation of the year and still bothering with btu's (as perhaps no one bothers)

What is the system designed temp difference (Delta T)
if its 11degC 10mm will supply up to 2400W = 8,188 btu's
if its 20 degC 10mm will supply up to 4300W = 14,670 btu's

BTW James no such thing as btu's any more they had been replaced with kW even before I started plumbing & that is a longgggggggg time ago.

I wonder how far into the future plumbers will still be using btu's, feet & inches etc ?

What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet

And what nonsense: "no such thing any more"

Just because it is no longer in fashion to use it, doesn't make it disappear in a puff of semantic determinism.

Are we to say that "there is no such thing" as a rod, a pole or a perch? Or indeed, a mile, a pound or an acre?

Fancy coming down the pub Chris. I'll buy you a half-litre! 🙂

Sounds good to me Ray, all you boys heard it first here Ray is going to buy my a drink !!!! :50:
When & where ?

All I will say is I know which of the sets of units I want to use when doing heat loss calculations or working out the weight of water in a storage tank.

Be proud to be British, helps to keep our heritage alive using as you call it out of date methods, And plumbing as been around for quite a long time using very old methods , under floor heating for example !

For some of us BTUs are an easier concept than specific heat of water and joules per second.
Working in litres and Degrees Centigrade, just multiply by 4 . ( 2.2 X 1.8 ).

I don't understand what you are getting at jts? It is because I am proud to be British that I want the next generation to use the units that we agreed to use & that are on the whole a lot easier.

OK there has to be a transition I agree but when I had apprentices still wanting to measure things inches you have to draw the line.

Next you will be telling me you want to go back to using pound shilling & pence or perhaps you would prefer the groat?

Its like pounds and kilos.

I went into a fruit and veg shop and said ill have a pound of potatoes.
He said we dont call it that any more - its kilos.
I said ok....ill have a pound of kilos [emoji15]

That is because they are American Alex not because they sell traditional English fare

or do you mean that what they sell tastes like a foot ? As I have never had the pleasure I won't know.

OK, my pizza comes in inches...
