What Is the pH of Drain Cleaner?

Hey everyone, I’m curious about the pH level of drain cleaners. Are they acidic or alkaline? What is their typical pH range?

Also, how does the pH level affect their effectiveness in clearing clogs? Which type is safer and better for home use?

Depends what type. Some are very caustic (alkalis), which are for clearing grease, fat and hair. Others are very acidic (sulphuric acid) and are better at dealing with mineral deposits, rust, etc.

Whichever you use, it is essential that you read and understand the manufacturer's safety and usage instructions.

And if using them fails and you resort to a professional drain cleaner company, tell them you have used chemicals before they start,, they'd normally ask.
