how does everyone else handle situations that arent strictly gas related iv just been out to an over flow from roof which turned out to be a boiler thats obviously been pumping over all though it didnt whilst i was there
its got a non return valve on the vent and push fit connnectors on the boiler, cold feed is teed in to the vent below the nrv does gas safe cover any of this?

If the push fit is on the gas supply then It'd be HSE and RIDDOR Id say Steve. If the installation is a new boiler then Gas safe may send out one of their guys on the request of the owner .. Otherwise I doubt they'd want to know!

No gas safe dont cover this sort of thing

Just point ou the poor workmanship to the customer. They can payout to cure the symptoms or they can pay out a bit more and cure the problem

Agree ^^^
You can point out and explain the problems and faults and advise them to get the system altered but many will think you are trying to create work.
If they won't listen then just do what you need and write on the bottom of your invoice something like "advised of underlying problems and system faults, customer declined works" to cover yourself when it goes wrong again.
