I have to go and service a halstead combi boiler i think its about 7 or 8 years old next week customer says it is making a loud whistling noise as the heating comes on and then the noise goes away any ideas before i go and look at it
I was maybe thinking the combustion seals or maybe the fan
Thanks

From my one time experience recently I can only suggest the fan, my boiler is 9/10yrs old and ended up the fan had rusted off the backing plate.

I assume this was causing the loud thud when the hot taps were switched off and the constant whining from being unbalanced and vibrating against the plate. It took a few days of the whining for it to eventually fail.

Thanks for your reply when i got there it was more of a clcking noise and sounded as it was coming from the pump as the noise carried on after i turned the heating down and the burner and gone out during the pump over run time any ideas on it
Thanks
