Got the heating engineer out who was corgi reg to seal my flue coz british gas woul not touch it,engineer said go and get some insulation out of loft and he used heat cement to seal the flue were it meets the boiler he said it wll pass british gas standard now BG come out and they wornt service it its not to corgi standard ,who taking the psss out of me it cost £50 to have it sealed £254 for home 200 bg said you carnt use heat cement anymore.?

well seeing as corgi no longer exists as governing body the guy who came was prob a chancer

cancel your home 200 as british gas havent helped so far have they, then get a gas safe engineer in to inspect your flue after all it only has to meet the standards required when it was installed, bg cant be retrospective with their interpretation of the rules. if the flue is installed iaw mfi at the time and is still safe then you are ok. bg at5 their worst!!

is it a back boiler,if so you cant use loft insulation for third seal ,needs to be fire board,they are a pain to fit,you can use fire cement,the bg guy would have left you paperwork with exact details

BG advised new flue install but said he would not spend £700 on new flue recomend new combi boiler and said you get £400 for scrapage scheme which now i find out i dornt quallify,why shell out £3000 for new boiler when there is nothing wrong with flue and boiler which is up and running,the guy who fitted boiler 10 years ago came other day said there is nothing wrong with your flue it just needs sealing ,go and get load of loft insulation and ill use this tub of heat cement to seal it,i said will that be alright and pass bg standard yes,he said they are not just engineers they are salesman aswel.

ps ive paid BG up front for my homecare and it will be a pain trying to get any refund of them and stress.
