lame plumber

Having seen a thread on how to "fit my loo earlier" can we run a sweepstake on which of the team will be getting that "Banned" header on their name soon. seems a bit sad that people ask questions and we cant help a bit, coz in the long term you have to remeber, diy means that shortly thereafter theres going to be someone ringing around to cure the nasty mess they have caused and the £45 they saved initially, has just turned into a £150+ sat night callout to stop the leak, and a follow up on monday to make good the botch.:smile::smile::smile:be nice to the diy nuts :cowboy:, most dream well above their capability!!

Any how I have a couple of names in place for saying where have they gone!! Gasman must have some as well:75:

I can see their point though I wouldn't have been quite so vociferous in my response. There are cowboys out there giving us a bad name and making the householder turn to DIY as was stated in that post.

For every DIY job carried out there's a tradesman banging on the dole!

if there's a forum available like this then of course the diy bods will use it and those on here in the trade have accept that, if the trade guys dont like it don't answer the question, there's no need to hit on people who like me have a reduced work load, customers with less money etc etc

Trouble is DIYers do wind up costing themselves more. They do a job, it doesn't work and then because the tradesman would probably have to tear it all out and start again HE'S the highwayman.

Sometimes you get a feel that someone is out of their depth and you give them the best advice possible which could just be get someone in!

So you're damned if you do and you're damned if you dont!

As I said, I tend to agree, I would've just worded it differently.

As far as I see it, if you're stupid enough to need to ask how to fit a bloody toilet, you shouldn't be doing it. Even a monkey could figure it out.

I generally don't bother replying on those threads, in fact, I barely post at all, mainly because I'm not diplomatic enough to not get banned lol

Lol totally agree

Trouble is it ends up with the "haha I done it anyway, how difficult is plumbing?" type of post which reinforces his opinion that we're just scammers. He'll now go to a different forum to get advice on repairing his boiler and then become another statistic.

I agree with you TB, I do. Just could've been a tad gentle is all I'm saying.

cant see any point in discussing who gets banned next, etc,etc..... if a member deserves to get banned they will. leave the mods to do ther job and report any posts that are a concern, simple.
