Hey everyone.

I'm new to this site, so thanks for your time, and nice to meet you all (sort of)

Ok, I have a direct unvented cylinder, it has imploded. Its all piped up correctly, the blow valves are all functioning as to is the expansion vessel. I cant see any obvious reason for the implosion to have happened.

I know the physics of how and why it happens;

possibly drawing off more than that can be replenished.
possibly to hot, but then the t&prv would have come into play.

Any feedback would be grand.

Thanks Reg Man

I have thought of this possibility, but its my mum and dads house, so I would be the only person to shut off the water, unless the waterboard had maybe shut off the mains for a short period, although unlikely.

I was thinking that maybe, they had left the immersion on constant, and the t&pr valve didnt function properly although its seems fine to me.

I am baffled, I have only ever seen implosion on old copper vented cylinder, never on unvented.

I had a vented cylinder implode earlier . Made a banging sound while draining . Replaced booster immersion . Filled up . It was banging . Opened hot tap on fill and the amount of air coming out was unbelievable . I'm thinking a blocked vent ? But head pressure is only 1 meter . The tank split in 3 places on fill up . Shortly 1m head would not cause this ?
