Do these have different strengths/coverage? Ours works all over the house but NOT in the new extension ( which is technically outside as its the other side of the existing external wall) it was supplied by sky and made by sage com if that's any help

Sky won't let you use any other router apart from their own apparently. It's in the T&C's so prob need to try and move the router somewhere else to see if that helps.

Most providers usually stipulate that they won't provide any support if another router is used, would be surprised if above is true.

Although if I change to a "stronger" router and there are no problems there won't be any need for support and if there are issues then I can swap back to theirs to see if it resolves it
I had intended to buy a stronger one and put the original in my mums for her and for when the boys are there with their iPads, so this is prob a no go, but is it simply the case that I buy a wireless router for her house, range won't be an issue there as its a small flat and they would prob use it in the living room anyway
Cheers again

Sky do a nifty little sender thing that you plug in to an electrical socket, then you plug a reciever into another socket on the same ring. Plug your PC/laptop whatever into the reciever and you have a 'wired' connection.
My mate has an issue like yours and he phoned them up (on the 'you're thinking of leaving Sky' phone number) and they sent him a few out free of charge.
Worth a try.

Cheers guys, will have a think about which route(r) see what I did there ? I will take, and will let you know how it goes

You could always add an extender. Anything with wireless-n is better for distance. It's also worth changing you frequency as you may be clashing with next door.

Sky/Virgin routers are crap and worth changing if you're comfortable with the set up process.
