Hi All,

I am after some advice and potential solutions to my dilema.
I have just upgraded my in-laws heating system radiators. It is an s-plan system with a baxi back boiler.

I have flushed system out and replaced the 30 year old panel radiators for some more modern efficient ones with thermo valves. (did not touch the boiler)

While I was in there the hot water cylinder was leaking so a new one has been fitted, along with changing the pump valves to gate type from quarter turn ones and cleaned the F&E tank out

The old tank did not have a cylinder stat fitted and the current room stat is also not working (old mecury bulb type !!!)

The current programmer is a danfos 3020p and the 3 port valve is a honeywell from about 1960, which is passing to CH when on HW mode

So to tidy things up and complete the job I am fitting a new 3 port valve with mid position, and new cylinder stat and a new room stat (either fixed or wireless). Looking at using the honeywell sundial wiring box
The programmer is located in the airing cupboard with the tank and valve which is upstairs.

To ease thing for them, i am looking at fitting a new programmer in the downstairs of the house. But I am struggling to find a 2 channel wireless programmer with at least 3 time settings. I need the HW and CH independant from each other.
Ideally i would like something like a salus ep200 this but wireless

I need wireless as i cant get a 5/6 core cable downstairs without major surgery which I dont really want to do.

Do you guys know of such a programmer or will I have use a single channel one and rely on the stats to control demand for heat ??

I want to make it as easy as possible as they are in their 60's and i know that in summer the rads will be red hot as the room stat will be on 22 degrees and they will only want hot water!!

Thanks
Roseyp

Just fit a wireless programmable room stat downstairs. Time the hot water from the airing cupboard. It's not like they need to be altering the hot water times hardly ever.

use a honeywell wireless cylinder stat and a wireless programmable roomstat. not too easy to wire up. but not impossible. probably just as easy to run a cable (read lots cheaper and more reliable)

Thanks Guys, I will order a programmable stat and a single channel timer.

Much appreciated

At present all the cables and controls are in the upstairs airing cupboard which is in the master bedroom. The boiler cable runs from the airing cupboard and down the chimney breast wall and the current wired room stat cable also runs with it. I could run a cable in mini trunking but I think it will look untidy. So will go down the wireless programmer for the hot water and a programmable wireless room stat for the heating. Couple this in with a standard tank stat all into a Honeywell sundial wiring box and job will be a good un !! ( I hope )
Thanks again

Recently I bought the new Siemens RDE100.. that one has unlimited time settings!

The simple solution is to install a single channel timer in the cupboard upstairs to control the HW and a separate programmable stat downstairs to control the heating.

The Honeywell ST9100A (24hr) or ST9100C (7 day) is ideal for the HW as you can have three on/off periods and there is a Boost button to give 1, 2 or 3 hours HW if you run out during an Off period.

For the heating, I would recommend the Honeywell CM921 (24hr) or CM927 (7 day). This will also provide up to 3 on/off periods a day.

Isn't that's a bit ageist? I left that decade a few years ago and SWMBO is about to leave it, and we can both use the system I describe without any problems. It's just a case of explaining to them how to use it.
