Would it be best to replace plate Hex or leave in salts also wanted to know easiest way to remove the plate?

When you say going cold, is the temp fluctuating or just going from hot to cold and staying cold?

Is the burner on the entire time?

Have you checked rads or flow pipe work to see if that's heating up instead?

Easiest way to remove plate, undo hot outlet and push pipe to the side, undo the two screws for plate and it'll slide down between hot and flow. That's as long as pipes dont go up behind boiler.

If pipes do go up behind, simply remove hw flow turbine and pipe, unclip pump and remove pump assembly and you can get the plate out that way. Otherwise it's hydroblock out.
