I have to replace the main heat exchanger on a worcester junior tomorrow part no 491878.
Having done this 3 weeks ago on another boiler and having real trouble (2hours) getting it off the pipes, I would like any advise you guys can give.

Thanks in advance.

Call worcester 🙂

there is a 10 year warranty on these heat exchangers and they will replace free of charge 🙂

They've been fairly easy when I've whipped them out, granted on the floor of garage getting them ready for the scrapie.

Pay worcester, they do a fixed price repair, it's very reasonable if you need a heat ex doing

as the op is doing this tomorrow,i assume they have already bought the hex,so Worcesters not a option, not personally done one, anyone able to give helpful, useful pointers to the op,rather than ring Worcester ?

I've got a glowworm ultracom main heater exchanger if you want to do it ? I told her to get a fixed price repair glowworm or buy a new boiler.

Nitemare job done a few the best way I've found is heat up the pipe where it sits on the heatexchanger it melts the orings so comes off Easier but b mindfull of the wires that go up the left hand side of the boiler as not to melt them

Heating the pipes is exactly how i done it last time!!!!!
Id love an ultracom heat x any day. Id rather fit a 937 shunt pump than do this worcester heat x.

Parts center made a balls up so I get to do this tomorrow. :56:
