I've got 3 kids with flu and now for the second time in 5 days my boiler has stopped working. Needless to say the plumber not answering phone... Please excuse my pedestrian way of describing the situation - i just hope someone can advice me what to do. Anyway it's a Main Combi. Symptoms are that the hot water stops...the red light goes on the 30, 40,50, 60,70 temperature gage - the heating works and then I turn it off as i'm convinced it's going to explode. I reset it.I turn it back on. No hot water still at all. And then the heating resets and gets warm, really warm, hot and then boiling again... But no hot water. Please send me suggestions - the only xmas present i am asking for!

it's a main 30 he. can i o anything - baring in mind i have no parts or access to any before monday? i just checked it again and now the 40 and 50 are flashing red... and there's no heat coming out

no you cant, but it wont explode if i had to guess simple hot water diaprahm failure but safe to use in ch mode it is a very good boiler if installed correctly

thank you for taking the time to reply to me. whats the flashing red lights on the temp gauge about?

really - wednesday..... OMG..... so can i just keep resetting it and putting the heating on constant till then?

It is a job for a pro i am afraid there is little you can do. If the heating is coming on then at least you can get heat even if you have to turn off frequently. It does sound like a diverter problem but not sure why you are overheating so much could be sensors as well unusual to get two faults though.

Do yourself a favour and get someone out that really knows what they are doing to avoid this happening again.

Sorry we can't help you any more than that.

thank you for responding.i want to get someone out - but it's xmas eve!!! I've already spent £200 this week on it! I have to wait till said plumber puts his mobile back on. Is it dangerous to use the boiler till then?

no,sounds like a simple dhw diaprahm fault but you have not answered the question which symbol is below the flashing lights? and whys it cost you £200

tell me about it,

i have 2 kids with flu, one turns out to be swine flue and not sure on the other yet.

apparently starts with diahorea and sickness.

stay warm and make the best of rhe situation.

Yeah £200 for what exactly? I don't know what symbols they are next to either but if it is the diaphram why the overheat? Surely the heating would work normally with a stuck diaphram and NTC sensors working I rekon that maybe the pump could be sticking or on it's way out after running a while and tripping the high limit stat??

sounds like a bad install, sounds like bolted in to a dirty system boiler getting the blame again

the only flashing is going on the temp gauge so 40 degrees is flashing as is 50... Anyway nothing is happening now - it's dead as a dodo.... a plumber came on monday and charged me £185r nothing apparently!

40 is over heat,50 fan problem try resetting, flue over heat stat may have activated but unlikely are you losing pressure?

Pump I'd say now given up the ghost hence no action. Is the fan running then the boiler fails to fire?

Oh right then could well be the pump. Wasn't aware of the sequence on that boiler, thanks for that though.

Not got ant wrapping to do??
