bleeding
Bleeding, also known as a hemorrhage, haemorrhage, or simply blood loss, is blood escaping from the circulatory system from damaged blood vessels. Bleeding can occur internally, or externally either through a natural opening such as the mouth, nose, ear, urethra, vagina or anus, or through a wound in the skin.
Hypovolemia is a massive decrease in blood volume, and death by excessive loss of blood is referred to as exsanguination. Typically, a healthy person can endure a loss of 10–15% of the total blood volume without serious medical difficulties (by comparison, blood donation typically takes 8–10% of the donor's blood volume). The stopping or controlling of bleeding is called hemostasis and is an important part of both first aid and surgery.
The use of cyanoacrylate glue to prevent bleeding and seal battle wounds was designed and first used in the Vietnam War. Today many medical treatments use a medical version of "super glue" instead of using traditional stitches used for small wounds that need to be closed at the skin level.
Hi, I have just tried to bleed a radiator with the key and the top of it has sheered off, I have put a towel down but there doesn't seem to be any water coming thankfully, what should I do in the long term?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could provide me some advice. Due to high boiler pressure, I bled some of my radiators. However, one of radiators is now leaking on both sides from a nut at the spindles?
Could some explain to me why this happened and what I can do about it? I’m...
Evening all,
Hoping someone could advise as I woke to find water pooling at the bottom of my guest room radiator. Upon closer inspection I found the valve where the radiator is bled from looks cracked and corroded and had started to leak water. (See pictures)
Please could someone advise me on...
Open vented system
2 upstairs radiators need bleeding everyday
First tried turning pump speed down from 3 to 1, but problem persists.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi all,
This is in no way a blame thread for the recent work I have had done as the guys were top notch, just looking for a bit of advice on a few puzzling questions I have since.
I had a power flush done as two of my 12 radiators were not getting hot in anyway even though the flow pipes were...
Hi all,
I have a vintage (!) boiler and expansion tank system (glowworm fuelsaver mk 2). I've had no issues with it , although admittedly it is well overdue a service. A couple of my radiators weren't getting as warm as the others so I decided to bleed them. One kicked out a fair bit of air...
On a thread I started recently , cannot find which one, somebody mentioned that bleeding of the rads on an open vented system should be done with the pump off so as to not possibly draw air into the system. Do I read into this then that auto bleed valves are not a good idea on that type of...
I'd be so grateful!
1) If the water in the rads and pipes is so hot that I can't touch the rads, is it possible that I can hear it rushing and coursing through the rads and pipes? I've been told the noise is air in the system, but I'm wondering if it's boiling hot water instead.
2) When...
Hi. I posted a few weeks ago because after my central heating system was drained and leaking valves repaired, I could hear the sound of water gushing and coursing through my rads and pipes. The really helpful forum advice was that there must be air in the system and to keep bleeding the rads...
Hi There,
We ran out of oil....more or less.
I believe the oil boiler now needs bleeding, as it will only come on for a minute or two, often less, then it turns itself off. Pressing the reset button means it lights again for anywhere between 30 seconds and 2 minutes, but no more. There's...
The vertical hall radiator always requires bleeding at least once a week.
At first i thought it was just the system getting rid of all the air, it may still be but it seems like a lot and its always just this one radiator.
I have needed to top the boiler pressure back up a couple of times, its...
Hello,
We have recently moved in to our first house, and are now expecting our first baby.
Working through the list of things to do, one was to replace the heating system, the new arrival has put a slight delay to that.
I am just redecorating the box room to become a nursery and need to...
Hi, I have just installed my Underfloor heating. 4 zones in total and pressure tested after filling each loop. I have now connected up to the 22mm flow and 22mm return (new install where the plumber who installed a new boiler left these ready for me). The current system have a radiator curcuit...

Hey,
To cut a long story short I decided as a single mother that I would google and work out how to get air build up out of my heating system rather than spend a fortune on a plumber this side of Christmas!
BIG MISTAKE!!! I live in Ireland so I have a kerosene boiler situated outside. I read...

Hi!
I need to bleed an airlock out of the ancient oil-boiler here - previous tenant ran it dry. Can anyone tell me which is the bleed valve? I'm thinking the bottom one with the nut but the upper allen type one seems to have had more action based on the amount of rust. Pump is Danfoss MSLC032...
Good afternoon!
I foolishly let my tank run out of oil. Of course this led to a lockout even after filling and this new boiler is throwing me for a loop! Its a Bosch worcester 12/18 heatslave... I've checked the outside valve and fire valve and all are in order so pretty sure all I need to do...
