Anyone know exactly what the new laws are regarding scrap. Im hearing that we wont be able to weigh in at all after next week.

Good scrappy dealers have been doing this for some time now

You must produce photo id, your weighed in metal gets paid for via bank transfer or via your bank card.

Its a good scheme and should lead to fewer metal thefts unless your local pikies have access to a semi friendly local bank account holder to channel their collections through.............

Often ponder taking van load of copper over to france and retuning loaded up with booze, but bone idleness and not knowing the rules in france prevent it getting any further than that.

PS grew up on magic roundabout (or at least the Jasper Carrot version)

oh and Mr ben

and as if by magic the shopkeeper appeared, that shopkeeper was a right weirdo if you ask me

Im aware of the no cash thing and we are already set up with the scrappy but just heard that it was changing again so nobody can weigh in unless you got one of the new council licenses.

Bet that costs a few quid to get then, have to spend money to get licence to then be able to sell it for scrap.

I wonder if selling my gold will have the same laws attached?

About ÂŁ700 ive heard. And that is per council so the tatters cant just work anywhere. Id say that if anyone is after a transit pickup there will be a lot on the market very soon.

Is this the waste carriers license? It's about 150 for three years, I think. If you do a search there's been a couple of threads on this.

So how does this work?
Let's say your doing a job in Nottingham and have always take your scrap back to your local scrap dealer, so in my hypothetical case, Coventry.
Do you have to keep records of where the scrap came from and are you allowed to take scrap from one borough or Council and sell to another scrap dealer in another borough or Council.Or would that require separate licences to do so?

I took a load this week, all be it same county, and on the new paperwork they issue is a space for the waste carriers license number. But I think the waste carriers license is individual specific.

Its not the waste carriers license its something totally new. From what i have heard we wont be able to take scrap in at all. I will look further into this and see what i can find out.

Can't find anything online. There's one or two "new scrap metal laws" for the 1st October, and 1st December online for various councils, but just received 404 errors from respective webpages.

They didn't say anything when I was there. With the last lot of changes they had big posters up and the lads were telling everybody about it as well.

I friggin hope not.I've got an old 1930's copper back boiler that's to come out when the wood burner goes in.
Was hoping to recoup some of the money spent on the woodburner by selling the very heavy backburner to scrap.

Makes no diffrence been in tyne&wear for over a year. Police only bother u if u have a transit tipper.

It would if commemorative nameplates on war memorials were made of gold.

It's only for scrap dealers, one per council. I was talking to the guy that takes my boilers and rads away the other day.

AAAAAAARRRRGH worst point of all......my wife will know how much I got for the scrap if paid into bank:(
;)
