hi guys, just got in from a ferroli 80e problem. when calling for heating the boiler fires for around 30 secs and shuts off...waits 2 mins then tries again. it repeats this cycle over and over. The same happens with hot water demand.
pump, fan, aps all work as boiler fires. i checked all stats and got a satisfactory reading on my multimeter for each of them.
i follow the fault finding in the manual and the only place i can possibly see a fault is where it says "is relay r100" on,now the relay is black in colour and i cant see if it has worked or not...is there a way i can check if it has operated??
this is leading me to think it could be a problem with flame recognition..and this would mean a new pcb but i want to make sure this is right before i buy the pcb for the job .has anyone out there experienced or has knowledge of this problem, any help would be welcome.

would have said thermistors or pcb
check leads to electrodes and electrode gaps, clean

Check for dry joints on board/boards

thanks puddle,i am thinkin the same thing.....but what do you mean by "dry joints"?

Dry joints are soldered joints on the pcb board that may be cracked or not soldered correctly, thus causing bad contacts/connections all done by robots so minimum amount of solder used, often the cracked joints can be found were the pins are soldered to the board, were the various plugs fit into

had a similar fault last year, however wit the case removed it would work fine, turned out to be a lazy fan.HTH

classic thermistor fault,or outside chance pcb as puddle said board known to be weak

was thermistor, one was dead but the other was fine. didn't realise that if only one thermistor was working then neither ch or hw would work. sorted now, thanks chaps.

Hi guys .. bit of help needed .. hope you don't mind me butting in but I've got the same boiler .. I turned the mains off for a couple of hours yesterday and now, the boiler works fine for the hot water but the (optional) lcd clock won't show the numbers, (so I can't reset the time etc.) therefore I can't make the boiler fire up for the heating! It's as if it's battery operated (the optional clock that is!) and the battery's gone dead! Even though I know that's nonsense!! Sorry about my clumsy way of describing this!
Any thoughts Ta Andy

I've cured my own problem .. touch wood!
I turned the elecy off and took off the outer case of boiler .. dropped the plastic control unit down to get at the wires to the 2 lcd clock and disconnected them. Connected them again one by one and turned the elecy on and, low and behold, the boiler fired up and is running a treat ..also the lcd clock is readable again so I am able to set the clock and set my various on -- off periods again .. which curiously, where still set!
Hope this may help someone else with the same prob.
Andy
