Been to look at the above boiler. once i had arrived the boiler fused spur was on (3amp) but no power to boiler, removed pcb case checked first fuse...blown. used replacement turned boiler on, went through sequence got to pump and blew again. disconnected pump and this time it wen through sequence ok. Im thinking this is the pump at fault but as i dont repair all that many boilers i would appreciate if you guys could rule out anything i might of missed.......(is there a way of checking the electrical side of the pump as in resistances? and if so what readings am i looking for..... Seeing as the pump for these boilers is coming up at near £200???? when looking online. Will need to speak to plumbs to confirm on monday.

Thanks for your advice/comments in advance Kev

p.s the last fault code that had appeared before fuse blew was e9 high limit stat (again pointing towards pump/circulation)

I would say its definitely the pump, in the manual its say the operation starts with the pump first. Can u not just change the head?

The pump seems to be free and moving, my guess is that its the electrical side of the pump which is why when it failed boiler went to lockout and also blew fuse on pcb and continues to blow fuses through start up sequence. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if pump will be the definitive cause as like i said previously £200 for a pump is a stinger lol

Sounds like the pump the last cdi boiler I went to which is the same as your 532i I think, the pump itself was like brand new but the electrics in the side box had the capacitor split in half! Could be the same thing on your pump..

Electronics side on invertor....new pump required! Also ensure system is clean of magnetite, as this causes drag on the shaft, the pump works harder then pops

thanks for the replies. this pump is less than 10months old. It was fitted to the custards boiler via insurance which they have now cancelled. think bosch would replace for free as it should still technically be under warranty?

They'd probably get out of the warranty if there's any sludge in the system though...

Test resistance between live and neutral, if its blowing the 3a fuse then anything less than 80 ohms will cause it to blow.

Nah I have had custards have heating drained without turning off boiler, no low pressure cut off, does pump no good!
