Saniflo Products - Any Good?

Ray is dead right - we fitted a saniflow unit for a lady under her stairs - on a rtn visit 2/3 years later i asked about the saniflow - 'no problem' she said BECAUSE she had observed our advice.

She embroidered a lovely notice which asked the users to 'only put poo and paper down her loo'

More - I always note the date of installation on these things - a week over our promise/gtee
tend not to send anyone back when they bust - unless its me. Its not nice fixing these things.

Also I would go for the most powerful one (highest watts) as that means you might not get called back to clear out funnies

Sorry CHK not quite the case anymore, putting the pumps in to like for like sections both the flo & top are 550w whilst the plus, pro & slim are all 400w. Have seen the 750w best in houses but the neighbours complain about the noise unless it is in a basement.

Keep it simple and use solvent weld plastic all the way then you can step up the 22mm to 32mm with an adaptor bush. Remember to clean all fittings and end of pipes with the pipe cleaner as you go along and try not to get to close to the fumes from the cleaner or you will have a "happy head" and little work will be done.

The only way I know to connect copper to plastic is with an unsightly rubber joint and metal jubilee clips, think they are called fenco joints but they look so DIY.

Thanks again rpm, I had reached the same conclusion but planned on using 32mm on the vertical discharge and then adapting to 40mm on the horizontal section (having the minimum 1% fall). This will allow me to use the 32mm Tee at the bottom, complete with Access Plug with the shut off valve at the side? Would you agree that this should be lagged and if so, what about where it goes through the outside wall and connects with the soil pipe?

Hi, Coming back to the arugment of 22 over 32mm for the vertical discharge pipe size whilst I agree with Chris and others that there is less chance of any restriction occurring in 32 if the pump is used correctly ie natural bodily waste, toilet paper (Not thick recyled), water and toilet cleaner ONLY then no restriction will occur. Saniflo pumps have been designed to last by discharging through 22 and it is only fairly recently that Saniflo have agreed to 22 or 32 being used. If people use 32 then they have to understand that the life span of the motor windings and the motor bearings will be reduced by the extra load on these parts and I say this from experiance in R&D of a commerical pump manufacture, so the choice is yours, I do it my way and others do it their way.

Lagging it not usually required until the pipe exits the house and place the shut off valve below the tee as the internal bore of the valve is less than 32mm therefore causing an immediate restriction in flow.

That goes for me to mate, manufactures are quick to make chages on cost grounds but don`t always make it known to us poor souls for fear of losing sales.

If I can add one last piece of advice then please use as much of the rubber discharge hose as you can, the reason being if you ever need an engineer to look at the pump then it is a lot easier and quicker to bend the hose to one side and remove the lid opposed to having to completely drain down and remove the pump because some numpty has only used a tiny little bit of hose and run the pipe across the lid. My time = Your money.

I fully understand what you have said above and will go for 22mm to 32mm as suggested. However, I will lag the pipework in the loft as well. Then there is no possibility of the pipework freezing in winter.
