dan is it possible to thread common problems with boilers rather than try n search through all posts for a particular brand

Thats great dan

if your looking for common faults, the main problem is most the boilers operate the same, but do so with slight variations
for instance the high limit stat could be...
in the power line to the fan
in the power line to the fan pressure switch
in the power line to the thermostat
or in the line for the ignition system

without the manufacturers fault finding
guide, you could easily get lost... and
replace components that dont need to...
but that never happens lol

if it didn't BG would go into administration

lol.... its very easy fixing boilers with 20grand of
kit in the back of the van... everyone else needs to
check and double check.

I have an elderly boiler and would like a manual to go with it.
Does anyone by any chance have a manual for Ideal E Type CF Series 3
models C.F 30/35, C.F 40/60 or C.F 60/80
Gas Appliance nos 41 399 23 , 41 399 24 or 41 399 25

This is model does not seem to be listed in the extensive library mentioned nearby in this list.

Why would you need a manual for that?
As basic as a boiler gets. All information you need is on the dataplate. Use your skill and engineering judgement for the rest.

hi can any one help me i need a manual for a glow worm 240 bbu i am having some trouble with it i cant get it to come of pilot i have poer in and out stat and upto gas valve but nothing from the valve i think the valves faulty but i want to see if i am over looking something

It needs a solenoid. You will struggle to get one.

thanks for the reply could it not be the stat not providing enough voltage up to the solenoid or are these a common thing on this model
i have never come accross this bbu before i have only wored on baxi bbus thansk for the assistance

If the gas valve is blue it has a 240v solenoid. Brown is 24v and has orange wires. Check the button is turned right round to on.

hi yes its the blue one and it turns alway round but only stays on pilot i tried a thermostat from a different boiler to see if it made a difference but it still did nothing i dont like condeming boilers if they can be repaired but it doesnt look good for this one the valves are obsolete which is why i am second guesing myself with the stat issue the customer said it did the same thing 8 years ago and it was the stat

You can get them on fleabay but some are expensive. I think some blue ones were 24v too. Can't remember, but all the 24v ones have bare connections for the wires.

the one im working on is definatly blue 24v how can i be sure the valve is faulty

If it has 24v across the solenoid terminals and the valve is not opening the solenoid is away or sometimes the valve may stick closed. Sometimes if it is sticking you can get it working again by giving it a tap. It won't last long tho.

but if you go to Ebay you can buy the lot for under £5 & put them on the PC I purchased one of thows small compact PC to take out on the Job its great for service gas pressures & combution analysis setup

HHIC » Gas Boiler Installation Manuals Seems to quite a few on here. Saved a lot of em on a little flash drive and keep it in the van. Most customers will let you print a copy on their computers, especially if they've lost theirs.
