Sad core drill

Am I right in thinking there's a diamond core that can be used on hammer action with an sds drill? Anyone got one?

Yes, I would turn the hammer action off for the last few inch. Nothing worse than seeing bricks all shattered outside.
I have the big Hilti rotary hammer with safety cut out if bits jam.
So it should be easy for it

I used to use a makita sds max with tct core bits. It used to fly through but you had to drill through from either side as the blow out was huge.

I can remember drilling straight through from an upstairs flat and my mate was working downstairs outside just below where I was working and he had 4 bricks fall down just to the side of him. He had a few choice words for me but still asked to borrow my drill.

Now if it is too hard for a diamond bit the hammer and chisel come out (or kanga for granite)

The pc850 diamond cores don't work with an SDS drill, they are for use with core drills that have a SOFT hammer action like the Milwaukee or the latest Marcrist (DDM1). An SDS drill has far too much impact for a diamond core drill.

diamond cores need high revs, sds are too slow hence why they use tct cores, shouldnt really intermix the two, scare over my eye is a result of sds and diamond core cock up!!

I use a 400mm drill bit in my core drill and pilot with a 10mm first, not had one move yet that that wasnt more than 5mm

I spoke to Marcrist yesterday and the confirmed that the PC850 cores should NOT be used with the hammer action of an SDS drill, they are designed for use with a core drill and soft hammer eg the DDM1.

"PC850 Dry Diamond percussion cores will work on most manufacturers’ percussion drilling machines, and have been launched in conjunction with the new Marcrist DDM1 compact lightweight diamond drilling machine."

I e just been told by my local supplier they can be used on sds. I've ordered one.
