Kitchen mixer tap fittings

Hi - I'm normally a competent DIYer and my brother asked me to install a new kitchen mixer tap for him. The new tap comes with fittings which only seem to be 12mm and with the current set up I can't see what I can change to get them connected to the hot and cold feed. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks
