Just to confirm there is actually a leak, yes if its sealed heating you could do this with filling loop and the gauge on the boiler.
But if theres a damp patch and its OV heating you will want to test this, you can check f+e is not continually refilling. Also your testing domestic hot and colds...
Hi Jay, The insurance side of it does make up 99% of their tracer gas work, I've only ever done one private job for them. The trouble is most people are not aware of tracer gas so most of the time if there are no evident signs to go on its just suggested to excavate the floor. Are you looking at...
Hi Jay, I've done a lot of tracer gas work for another company I subby to. Theres good money in it, they get all there work from insurance companies and get £750 per day for doing a tracer gas job plus £250 for a prelim inspection, this doesn't include my fee's either to assist with the draining...
Im guilty aswell, prefer the security of the olive slightly crushing the tube so it cant pop off if it gets knocked about a bit...not exactly hard to do now with the wall thickness of tube being so thin.
Ive got a fein 240v and a makita 18v. The fein is nicer to use the makita vibrates your hands a fair bit more than the fein. Still dont really use them much but come in handy occasionally.
Reverse filling shouldnt be needed on a sealed system. Turn off all the rads bar one (one of the cold ones). Do this to all the problematic rads until you get heat to them, then start balancing it.
If youve already tried this, what was the water quality like when you drained down?
Thanks for the help everyone, went to an open day this afternoon at Gaslogic and also spoken to another couple of colleges. Looks promising and Portfolio work required doesn't seem as bad as first thought.
not quite sure what a return flow is but the cylinder return should be the last tee before it goes back to the boiler.
Also you say the boiler is open vented? If its a heat only boiler with external pump you need to have tee'd into the flow after the pump.
