Once upon a time... it goes like this, plumber 'n I thought we'd have some fun!
Competition to bend 22mm copper (table X) in hand bender without pressing one of the handles on floor or wall - i.e. using it like a chest expander. One for tough nuts and labourers - so we cut some equal lengths...
I am going to replace hot and cold 15mm copper pipe with a plastic system. The hot water is from a combi boiler and the cold water pipe is at mains pressure. The pipe lengths are about 10m each. Looking at the internal bore of 15mm plastic pipe, it’s much smaller than 15mm copper. To ensure...
Hi - apologies for the stupid question but really struggling to find the right answer (I'm a novice as you'll see).
New kitchen tap fitted with 2 flexible tap connectors. The ends (which connect to the incoming pipework) have a diameter of 22mm and have female connections.
I need to connect...
Hi.
Have a mid 1980’s house with the mains water coming in from underground via a black plastic pipe, of which the external diameter is 27mm. There does not appear to be any markings on it, but maybe some faint green.
This goes into a 15mm copper pipe via a stop tap with compression...
I bought this Ridgid pipe slice type cutter over a month ago and it's been extensively used every day since then.
It's attraction to me was that it cuts both 15mm and 22mm using only the one tool. However you pay a premium for this function, as my one cost me £35.77 which is more than you'd pay...
Hi,
Are there any current regs prohibiting the use of 15mm and 22mm soft copper coils for an above ground domestic water supply? I've been given half a coil of 15mm soft copper which is coated in blue plastic and it would be perfect for outdoor tap installs as it's flexible and would require few...
OK I have so far managed to avoid or replace lead pipes, but not this job.
Any recommendation for fitting to go from lead OD 25mm to 28mm - all three pipes have a different OD, lol to 22mm copper ?
many thanks

This dam basin I’m fitting is for a particularly fussy customer. Its a corner, wall hung basin. He does not want to see the pipework, and I’m not putting the flexi tails that came with it connected in the wall like I’ve seen others do.
All I need are a pair of copper tails (readily available) -...
hi.
I have a copper soil stack (def copper) that I am hoping to take out, runs through the house, pops out the roof, which is leaking anyway!
What’s the best way to connect? I plan on cutting a couple inches before the pipe goes underground, can I stick a connector in, assuming it fits like...
Hi,
I have a large three storey cold Victoria house and I'm having an extension being built which adds a large amount of additional volume to heat. The new space will be UFH and the existing heating system zoned to upstairs and downstairs.
The entire heating system is a single zone in 22mm...
I need to hook up a copper pipe that comes directly out of the wall, to a toilet cistern. I've got a flexi-hose to connect to the cistern, but could do with the copper pipe pointing upwards. As a DIYer, I've never soldered and don't intend to purchase all the necessary stuff and mess around...
Just thought to kick this one off - both have their unique properties,; advantages & disadvantages...
Go-for-it... let's hear your arguments, stories etc
I've a load of copper fittings, both end-feed and solder-ring that are tarnished.
What's the quickest and best way to clean them without wire-wooling individually?
I have an install job to do in a curved bay where the pipework will all be surface mounted and on show. I am at a loss to know how to bend a full length in a curve to match the bay! Anyone done anything similar?
It has to be spot on and look good. I have 3 radiators to fit around this huge bay.
Had a big 1.8m copper cylinder to take out today, draining the last bits from cold water inlet I put the wetvac on the inlet tilted the cylinder to help matters whilst I did so I placed my hand over the outlet at the top.
Immediately I heard crunching noise, it was only after I took the...
hi all. I need to a stop tap for 20mm MDPE to 22mm copper but it's doesn't look like a brass tap is available. What's my best option? Not that clued up with mdpe fittings to be honest.
Okay, I know what size it is. It seems to be 15.5mm OD. 0.5mm of crud doesn't seem likely, so what size pipe could this be. I've measured some actual 15mm pipe and that is pretty much 15mm, plus a couple of thou. From what I've read, 1/2" UK copper pipe would be slightly smaller, not larger...
