Hi all,
I create things using copper pipe such as lamps etc. I would like to know if someone has a very simple way of removing the tarnish that is visible after soldering copper pipe? The best way I have found is wire wool, however, I'm not a huge fan of the stuff and I tend to go through...
Hi , I have just been asked to cap off a redundant supply to a no longer in use fire, I have spoken the customer on the phone and he tells me he has exposed some of the pipe work under the screed when removing the fire place, I asked if the pipework was protected or sheathed and what else it...
Anyone know roughly when lead stopped being installed for domestic pipework and then again when steel was replaced by copper? I know I can google but it misses out on the warmth and colour of lived human experience and interaction. Plus I can't be arsed. Thanks
Hi everyone. What is the best brand of copper pipe for bending. Size 22mm?
Screwfix and city plumbing are Wednesbury but found quite a few negative reviews about ripple when bending. Jewsons are Melleur which I can’t find any reviews about. Wicks don’t say which brand but agin lots of bad...
Hi again. Another few obvious questions for those who know the answers I'm sure :)
1.) Is there a maximum pipe diameter where fittings can be soldered before it stops working?
2.) For brazing as opposed to soldering, what filler would you use to join copper to brass? Also what flux do you...
Got called to a leaking stopcock recently. Fine jet of water spraying out from compression joint. On closer examination I found the copper had corroded under the olive.
Please see photos.
Anyone seen this before?
Is this pinhole corrosion?
i am currently altering the incoming water feed which looks like it is 15mm copper pipe, however I suspect it was put in when the house was built in the 60's
Now I have not chopped the pipe but have cleaned it ready where I intend to cut it. However it does not look quite as shiney as other...
Our indirect copper water cyclinder has started leaking. Not a flood but enough to wet the whole floor in the airing cupboard. Could not find any obvious leaks from pipe joints, shower pump etc. so called in a plumber. He cut away insulation layer at bottom and found heavy corrosion. He has...

As above please tell me if you know who (UK retailer) sells 19mm diameter chrome copper tube for an existing shower riser. I can find plenty of 15mm and 22mm but 19mm..... like hen's teeth?
What the big deal if I use 19mm chrome plated steel tube instead of copper - will I lose that much heat...
Hi,
I am trying to remove a copper pipe from a plastic push-fit so I can replace existing brass fitting with a T piece to accommodate both washing machine and dishwasher.

Thanks

Hi. Could anyone shed some light on a reason for this excessive corrosion. The pipes are 3 months old, inside a wooden clad room, I can't see any sources of any leaks. The corrosion seems to be near the holes in the wall. Is this a chemical reaction from the wood treatment ? Many thanks.
