Ive just shut off a Main madrigal gas fire because the gas valve is jamming and not shutting off the gas when the pilot is extinguished.
I cant get a replacement valve because of the age of the fire. G.C. 32-477-65.
How easy is it to service these valves, what will I need and what is the success...
I have never needed to do one. My customer had her boiler and fire serviced. I failed the gas fire as it was spilling. I said it could be cobwebs. She has now had the chimney cleaned. I have been back refitted the fire and tested. Passed both tests. Do I re-issue a cp12? or is there another form...
Dear all,
My wife and I are replacing a woodburner with a gas fire. It's a long story but the woodburner was a bad idea. We have used the woodburner for only 4-5 months (one winter). Now that we are having the gas fire fitted, the engineer says that we need a new chimney lining because it's...
Hello to all Gas Safe Engineers.
Our kitchen extractor fan is affecting the updraft of our gas fire stove. Our engineer disconnected it and told us to clean the chimney and install extra ventilation in our lounge. We did this but it is still a problem. The engineer has suggested we contact...
Hi, our builder recently fitted some clay drop-in chimney covers for our dripping chimneys and one of them was for a gas fire. The first two are regular 205mm ventilated caps but the spigot for the clay drop-in GC5 he used for the gas, in my option, is too small at just 170mm externally and...
Hello
I've had a google around but haven't found anything that suits my situation.
I have an old back boiler (complete with a typical lovely eyesore 80's gas fire) in the chimney breast in my kitchen that used to be a dining room. The gas fire part of it is never used. Obviously it's massively...
Hi,
Apologies if this is the wrong place for this question - I couldn't find another forum relating to gas fires.
I am currently training to become a Gas Safe Registered engineer and am out with a mentor building a portfolio of evidence (yesterday being my first day out).
One of yeserday's...
Good afternoon
I wonder if someone could help?
How many ways are there to cap a gas fire?
My assumption was just 1 - To remove the pipe running to the fire. I recently been told there is actually a few ways.
Is this right?
Hi,
Selling my house so got a chap round to do the gas safe certs on the boilers, all fine. He is a look at the fire but wasn't sure on the look of it. It passed all the tests he did but he said he didn't do enough fires to be able to sign it off with what he saw. I have the installation...
I recently moved house and took my kinder oasis remote controlled gas fire with me as it was an expensive purchase at the time and it worked perfectly in my previous home. It has stood for a number of months as I needed to have work done on the fire place to accommodate the fire and then I paid...
Hi cust wants new wall hung gas fire once his boiler is done, I've told him let me sort boiler then once back boiler and fire is gone I'll have a look.
money is definitely an issue now he is having the boiler done. Anyone fitted a fire after removing a back boiler? Any advice on best way to go...
Some history is that one gas engineer (who checked safety after fitting of a new gas meter) in the past said I had to have an air vent fitted in the lounge as gas fire required it, but then another engineer (British Gas) said if it is 7½ bar & below this is not necessary, so blocked the said up...
Hi all,
I've got a theoretical question about servicing gas fires.
When you take the gas fire out of the chimney (to do the smoke test, etc), do you routinely dismantle the pilot/burner pipes and injector and clean them as well? By blowing compressed air through the dismantled pipes?
The gas...
Is it usually considered acceptable for an open-vented gas fire (by which I mean one which vents its exhaust gases up a chimney by natural draught) to have a terminal that will allow a bird into the chimney?
Got a phone call from my mother yesterday. She's not going to be able to meet me...
We have a Kinder Kalahari Power Flue Gas Fire which has a rated maximum heat output of 3.3kW.
We inherited the fire three years ago when we moved to this house and the fire used to give off a good amount of heat. This was demonstrated by our dog getting so hot that he'd have to move to a cooler...
Afternoon, trying to track down the manual for a DFE fire. From what I can figure out it might be a Monarch H14, but this doesn't. Bring anything up on google. All it says on the data plate is Model H14.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
