Hi,
I have finally decided to swap out the stand alone taps in my bath for a mixer. I have previously been using a Croydex push-fit shower but think it's finally time to upgrade to a proper fitted one.
I have been looking at a deck-mounted thermostatic bath/shower mixer like this Vellamo Echo...
Hello. Currently in the process of changing an electric shower into a thermostatic mixer shower, its a bit of a long story with the builder but the existing shower area was basically bodged in to fit and tiled over concealing a few of the builders hacks into the plasterboard walls and getting...
Hi, I've just swapped out the old Aqualisa cartridge for the new, however when I went to turn the water inlet valves back on the cold was fine but I had no control over the hot. Meaning when I shut off the shower the hot water would keep flowing.
Any thoughts gratefully received as I am...

Hi all,
I’ve just removed a Triton mixer bar shower I had fitted ten years ago to replace it with a Mira shower.
The instructions suggest I should have 25mm of pipes sticking out so that I can put the wall brackets over them, then the olives and then the nipples. I don’t have this setup. If...
Hi there,
We've got a problem that I'm hoping someone has some thoughts on. We have a Grohe thermostatic bath/shower mixer in a first-floor bathroom which is fed by a combination boiler. The intsallation has worked fine for around 8 years without problem.
Around 2 months ago the hot water in...
Hi
A couple of days ago our shower power would not kick in.
I switched off at the power and ran the water for a bit which seemed to resolve it.
However yesterday the problem returned but worse.
I tried switching the power off and running both hot and cold but the issue persists and the flow...
Hi all, just installing a Bristan mixing valve.
On the hot and cold inputs it has non return valves that have a fibre washer between the NRV and the body of the valve.
Do I need to ptfe the threads as well of is the fibre washer enough?
Tried to upload a photo but there seems to be a problem...
Help. I've just fitted a Cruze [Victorian Plumbing] thermostatic shower (with a diverter going to bath filling spout). It will not go above 38.5 deg C, and neither will the bath filler. The bathroom basin hot tap and kitchen sink are nice and hot.
Incoming mains pressure is neither particularly...
Hey guys,
I’m looking to replace my thermostatic shower mixer valve with the one attached.
How would you connect water pipes to it for a tight seal?
I bought 15mm 1/2” elbows, but when tighten all the way, it goes to around 8 o’clock position, but I need it facing straight down to 6 o’clock...
Just wondering if there was a better way than smashing tiles, wall etc. (cartridges are corroded in and wont come out)
If those showers were sold with a bigger plate to allow access to joints the job would be much much easier.
How do you guys approach these?
Hello,
My understanding of these valves is you set the room thermostat (dial type on the wall in the hallway) at a comfortable temperature, so i set mine to 20 degrees.
I then set all my thermostat on the Rads to 3 and adjusted until I got correct temp in rooms. After that they open and close...
I’ve been asked about installing some Hive Thermostatic heads to a combi system. I wondered what’s people’s opinions on them, firstly from an installation point of view and secondly from a users view ?
The customer has a two up two down type of house with a ideal logic 24kw boiler just been...
Help! The shower thermostatic valve has snapped with half of it stuck inside (the front and centre of the valve are out). Long nosed pliers and WD40 have had no success, and the whole fitting is moving when trying to pull. I was thinking it might be possible to get something in, attach to the...
hi everyone
I have a thermostatic shower on my middle floor, which when turned seems to make all the hw taps in the house run cold and to avoid this we don't use the temp valve on the shower.
the shower is now basically either running too hot or too cold. so seems like a new shower but cannot...

Any ideas as to why the shower seems to be...
Hi,
We had a new combi boiler fitted this week, changing from a system boiler and water tank. The work did not touch the bathroom area. The first shower with the new boiler the concealed mixer failed and caused water to flow through the ceiling below. The mixer failed when I activated the stop...
