Could anybody advise me whether an electric shower can be installed from the rising cold water main that feeds a cold water storage tank.
Or if it can be installed from the tank on a shower pump.
Or if you'd avoid fitting an electric shower on a cold water storage tank water system.
Many thanks.
We have a old water tank that we need to get rid of and its too big to remove it from the garden. We have a fair bit of space around the garden before other houses, so I was thinking of raising it off the ground with bricks and then putting fireworks underneath it to launch it out of the garden...
I have a hot water system that was professionally fitted. It has a pocket into which an additional thermostat for the solar panel can be placed. The wires were left trailing and the thermostat came out. Two questions, firstly is it OK to tape the thermostat wires to the pipework to keep the...
Our bath and en-suite shower is fed from a cold water tank in the loft. My kids have decided they like the shower but stay in it a long time. This causes the tank to empty and airlock the shower pump. I then have to the disconnect and bleed the the cold water feed.
I there a way to make the...
Hi guys,
I'll try to describe my issue as best I can but I've attached a video and linked to some images below that might do a better job of explaining. Edit: Just noticed the video didn't upload. I'll try to upload to an external site and pop a link at the bottom when it's done. In the...
My Unvented hot water tank makes a noisy filling sound when the hot water and heating come on. Any ideas on how to stop it??
It's had a new expansion tank and prv recently.
Hi, I just want to ask one question regarding the waterflo water tank. I moved to a new build of 4 bedrooms and they have a waterflo water tank. I have gas at the house and the problem is that water tank is used only for 2 showers and then the water is cold and i have to wait many hours in order...
Hi All,
Looking for some advice. The tank in the attic has been trickling out of the overflow for a few weeks now.
I have an open vented system with a hot water pump (Stuart Turner monsoon twin 3) fitted.
Have already changed the valve and float in the attic. Set it very low but water is...
Hello.
I have lived in a top floor flat (block of 4 flats on top of a shop in London) for 2 years and the noise from the filling of the water tank on the flat roof is driving me slowly insane. It’s really loud and radiates through the flat at night like slow running water in an echo chamber...
Hi guys,
Just moved into a house with a 3rd bedroom being a loft conversion on the top floor.
I currently have F&E system consisting of:
Boiler - Ground floor.

Cold Water tank / Central Heating expansion on top floor.

Just had a dodgy builder install a hot water tank using a plumber who isn't G3 certified. They then got g3 gas Safe registered engineer commission it, but it doesn't meet building regs (wrong discharge pipe, plastic not metal) and he didn't register it with building control. Any ideas who I can...
Hi all,
We recently return from Xmas holls to find that there’d be a leak in our attic, which has caused some staining on one of the walls. When taking a look myself I couldn’t really see where the leak was coming from, but the water was mainly below the cold water tank and the ply cover on top...
Hi all,
I recently had my boiler replaced with an ideal Logic max s30 boiler and also a 210L Gledhill indirect Vented Stainless cylinder. New 3 port valve, nest thermostat etc.
I also had a Stuart Turner 3.0 bar twin impeller regenerative shower pump fitted. (possibly overspecced)? To run two...
Firstly thank you for taking time to read this for me. Last week we were lucky enough to have our second daughter born. During getting some bits out of the roof I looked at the cold water tank as it was running. I’m a complete novice at plumbing but can fix a few things. To be honest I didn’t...
Just started recently - sound like a 'whirr' when hot water tank fills up after hot taps used for a few minutes or after a shower.
I don't think anything to do with Potterton boiler as the noise happens when the boiler isn't on - for either water or heating.
The noise seems to be from the cold...
Hi,
I have a problem and would be grateful for any help. At the weekend, when filling up the bath, the overflow pipe from the roof started chucking out water.
I have one tank in the loft. I have changed the ball cock already but have realised this isn't what's causing the overflow.
When...
Hello everyone. I am looking for a bit of basic advice on hot water tanks. I currently have a warm air heater that heats up the water in my tank via a heat exchanger. The tank is now very old and does need sorting out. I am getting a brand new, unvented tank as a replacement, with an immersion...
Hello
But of a puzzle.
I was away and my partner called and said 'there's a small leak'.
She lives in an old 1880s terrace that's been broken up into shop (ground floor) and 3 flats..hers is the top flat. She has a combination fitted..an old Worcester 24i. But there is a coldwater tank in the...
Hello all,
I have an old galvanised metal cold water tank that needs replacing, I've purchased a cistern plastic tank replacement and was recently quoted £1,600 for a 2 day labour + pipe materials.
The old metal pipes we have are of odd sizes so I was told this would require special tools to...
