15mm and 22mm cwst connectors

hi guys, i need to change the 15mm supply from cwst to electric shower to a 22mm supply for a shower pump, can anyone tell me are the 15mm and 22mm cwst connectors the same diameter at the cwst end (hole in tank) swapping electric shower for hot and cold feed pumped mixer. thankyou.

Hi Adi, no they are not the same size and it will be very hard to make the hole bigger as the pilot of the holesaw drill has nowhere to pilot into.Btw
are you sure that the electric shower is fed from the tank, they are normaly fed from the mains.

No they are not the same size. How you widen the hole in the tank depends usually on what its made off.

To widen hole.

If its steel, either you could use a rotary file in a power drill or a rat tail file.

You could of course use a sharp knife on a plastic tank, if your steady enough.

You can also get a narrow half round wood rasp for use on a plastic tank, I find them easier than files, which usually get blocked up.

Make the hole just big enough for the new fitting and not to tight that it deforms the tank or to loose that there is loads of space around it to leak. Wrap a few turns of PTFE around the new connector and put a 3/4" poly washer on the inside and outside of the connector. Then tighten, but over gorilla tight. 🙂

The originas "tanks" used in wars were horse drawn cisterns full of water to refresh the horses and soldiers, they found that they were impervious to bullets etc so were adapted as a weapon.

I will try the horse drawn cisterns on at the next opportunity. But a bit concerned about them putting their hooves through the plaster board, when writing the risk assessment.
