18v sds

Any of you got an 18V sds drill. Been looking at a hitachi one in screwfix. 2x 3.0 li-ion batteries with it for £199.99. Also are they much faster than a combi? Iv obviously got a corded sds but fancy a small cordless version

i have one, had it for 6 yrs, used and abused it, cored drilled with it 1 1/5, hammered 25 mm through 2foot walls with it. best drill I have had. a gear wheel went once inside, replaced it myself and its still ok tho getting tired
also got 4 batts and the sabre saw and circ.

i have the hitachi 24v sds and it has served me well, got it for £199 reduced from £300, should really charge the batteries more often though as when they are not being used they aren't that great at holding a charge but don't know what other ones are like in that department in comparison

get the 24v one then, i have it and its small and powerful enough use it all the time

the best 18v sds drills are either the dewalt or the milwaukee.

the makita, hitachi, bosch have alot less power/impact energy but all are suitable for 5-12mm holes for plugs and will be alot better than a non sds hammer drill.

got a hilti te6a. nice bit of kit, but I'm on me second charger, and I think the battery's on its way out. but that is after about 6 years of horrendous abuse (believe it or not, my core drill packed up one day, so being stumped, i even drilled a 5 inch core with this thing - took a while, but for a cordless ---> mint) . got one of those hitachi 24v sds too - cracking little drill, great value, nice and dumpy too, good for tight spaces. bosch gbr 24v sds is pretty good too. got/had some dewalt stuff, but they dont like being dropped - cases seem to be made in number of sections, seem weak to me, but i figure we're all different.

i had my airing cupboard assessment in college yesterday and i looked like a right stuck up git walking in with my 18v makita, ok its not an expensive one but its better that the 14v erbauer ones they provide. it was only to put several pipe clips inplace, but anything is good if it makes a job quicker ay

i have the makita 18v sds. Its fine for small drilling but if you want to be going through walls alot then the dewalt or milwaukee would be more suitable.

All i would really want it for is drilling 7mm holes for pipe clips, i have a corded 110v bosch for anything bigger

I note Hitachi have a brushless drill now and they all will soon.

I've an 18v Makita that I've had for years and bought the 24v Hitachi a couple of years back, bloody good drill. I know I shouldn't, but I use it for core drilling sometimes (4 inch would you believe!?)

i use my 240v dewalt for coring, and i will continue to use it until it dies lol

then the makita would be fine, especially if you already have some makita tools and can buy it bare. If you buying from scratch and not doing so to match up with existing kit then i would go for the dewalt.
