Hello everyone,
I've been clicking about trying to find some good answers for this one, but I figured it was easier to just sign-up and ask specifics instead.
My new house has a very old combi boiler, on its last legs (heating pump isn't really working, and other nasties). Knew this when I moved in, anyway.
Have had a couple of quotes to replace it by the very same (Gas Safe) Engineer that tested it before I decided to purchase the place. I'm fairly sure he's not trying to sell me a lemon, but I'm new to this so I'm after a second opinion on whether I should plump up a bit more for something "better".
("Better" could just be a brand with a better reputation, I'd add...)
The options:
The WB has a slightly better DHR (13l/min, vs. 12l/min), but (as best I can tell) the Ideal seems to do some automatic scaling of the CH power, whereas the WB does not.
Is it worth spending another £350 on the WB? I might not be in the house over 5 years, so I'm not convinced the additional warranty is hugely important. Yet I'm also aware that if I do stay beyond the warranty period, the extra spent on the WB might well be made back on cheaper parts (it has been suggested that the Ideal parts are marked-up to cover the cheaper boiler!)
Your experiences & opinions on the operation, cost of maintenance, and indeed the reliability of these units, are all very, very much appreciated. :grin:

- Ideal Logic+ 30, £1450 fitted (7yr warranty)
- Worcester Bosch Greenstar Compact 32CDi, £1800 fitted (5yr warranty)
