Can you just gas test a van for us they said as the new owners are coming down for Christmas.
Like a fool I said yes.
They then said that the hydraulic block on the water heater is leaking but there's another van you can nick one out of. Okay I say.
Get there this morning and to start with we can't find the keys to the van. After much searching we find the master set so I can get in.
The water heater turns out to be a Morco Feb24E boiler and the hydraulic block has obviously frozen and split. Not too bad if it wasn't for the fact that there was water running off the PCB. Boiler is FUBARed. Okay I'll just nick the whole boiler out of the other van.
Swap boilers and turn water on. Cue water peeing out of the shower. Turn water off and fix shower leak.
Turn water back on and refill heating system. PRV on the boiler is letting by. Partially drain system and swap PRV from other boiler. Fill system again, all okay now.
Turtle head alert so make quick use of the facilities. flush and pan fills up instead of draining away. Out with the plunger and clear blockage.
Now onto the gas, did I mention that there was no changeover valve fitted? The van was previously on a meter so I had to cap off the connection and fit a changeover valve at the other end of the van. All this was on grass that had about 6" of water laying on it so I had to make a platform out of the old decking to lay on while I made the connections under the van. Test it up and it's leaking. Cue crawling about under the van in the mud and remove a redundant section of pipe with some very dodgy looking connections. Test again and it's okay.
Back inside and test the boiler, cooker and fire and write out the paperwork.
I was expecting to be up there about an hour. I was there 6 hours in the end.
Had some luck on the way home though, nipped into the garage and on a whim bought a couple of scratch cards. Won £40 on one of them so I've bought some extra euromillions tickets as I feel lucky.
