I wouldnt dismiss Fords.
Cheaper than VW practically same quality, getting 39mpg on my 1.6 tdi connect. Maybe old connects had bad reputation due to high fuel consumption and rust issues but new ones are definately on par with caddy cost less money and you dont need to have to board over any silly glass doors at the back. Its a great compromise between caddy and berlingo

Get a site box in the back Chris, if they do get in they won't get your expensive tools.
If it's being sign written, extra locks and an alarm are a must.
Specially with it being French, so it will be static most of the time. It's a sitting target.

Goto van auctions. I wouldnt pay that much. The small bippas can be had for a good price.
Just get a couple of master locks fitted.
