Hi Everyone,

Please note I am not a plumber, but I'm hoping to get some help/advice. We have an Atmotec Plus Vaillant boiler in the kitchen of our rented flat. I'm not sure if it's normal, but whenever the boiler turns on and off, it makes a noise. (see video in the below link. 16 second mark shows the noise it makes turning on, 36 second mark shows the turning off noise)

The boiler turns on and off approximately every 10-20 minutes it seems all day and all night. We also have a Vaillant VRT 360f thermostat, but don't ever use it as we don't know how. We tend to stick with the knobs on the radiators in each room when we want to adjust the room temperature. I had a plumber come out last week to look at it, and he was unable to fix the noise. He said the tank needs maintenance, but did not say what kind. He also mentioned something about a vent. Since the plumber left, we can now hear a soft rattling coming from each radiator in each room when the tank is turned on. Needless to say, I've scheduled a plumber to come and complete the "maintenance" required next week.
I thought before the plumber comes by again, I would ask on here to see if anyone has seen this before, or perhaps this turning on/off noise is completely normal?
Thanks in advance for your time. 🙂

Sincerely,

ABDAZE

Hello Abdaze and welcome to the forum. Some of the gas guys on here can reply to you, but they won't give out much information on open forum on gas boilers for obvious safety reasons.
There is a section open only to gas qualified plumbers.
You maybe should first let your plumber check the boiler over in his second visit.

Thanks for the reply, Best. I'm hoping the plumber will have success on his second visit.

I've watched the video & know what's wrong. Assuming your plumber is GSR he'll be able to advise you as to how much the fix will cost
